I will not go into details to try to explain the daily sacrifices made by our GI’s in Blue. Everyone receives the chain emails. They know the truth but fail to accept it. They can not “see the forest for the trees.”
The media is partially at fault for not properly reporting on the war. It is always one sided ‘death and destruction.’ Although the blame solely lies at the feet of the people for they do not open their ears and eyes to both sides of the story. For instance, there are countless eye-witness testimonies of veterans who have been there and have seen first hand the progress and the shortcomings. We can not depend on the media as our only source of information.
The video “Do you remember me?” is by far the best tribute I have seen to our veterans who are serving and continue to serve in our Armed Forces. It shows us and reminds everyone these warriors are our own flesh and blood. Yet the comments do not reflect gratitude. You would think those at home would be proud and for once put politics aside to honor our family overseas.

It really is too much to ask. The hate and the foul language disgust me and at times I am ashamed to label myself an American as they do. I suppose it truly is too much to ask.
I have lost a few friends and brothers and one returned home without his right leg only to loose the other one to infection. I guess it really hits home for me so I can understand. How many actually break down in tears at a ballgame when the National Anthem is sung? How many stand respectfully?
You know a fellow Marine told me, “it is not everyone who displays only hate.” You know, I believe him now. It really is only 10%. These few who can only use blotted out words because their language is lacking substance. “What does “******” mean, anyway? Honestly, I think it is just a loss of words. Besides, I know they are the minority… all the Ensigns have not been burned.
So this 4th of July while these 10% attend their Al-Qaeda graduation ceremonies I will enjoy my freedom and give thanks to the GI’s who have and continue to sacrifice in my stead. Semper Fidelis, Always faithful.
